Heck, if I’m being honest, that’s still me more often than I’d like to admit. Life is hard, mama. But you are capable of doing hard things, mkay?

On the days and weeks that I’m committed to writing out my schedule, this isn’t me. You see, when we prioritize tasks, we can automatically accomplish more. Why? Because there’s less thought involved. You don’t have to think about what you should be doing, you already know because you took the time to make a plan.

If you plan when you’re going to spend time cleaning and what you’re going to clean, then you don’t have to think about it in the moment. You already know what you’re going to do. Same with helping or attending kids activities or assisting with homework. Same with making meals every day, or doing the laundry so it doesn’t take over the couch again.

Over the years, I’ve heard more productivity hacks for moms than I have fingers and toes on my body. But, most of them didn’t work or were too complicated to work for me long term. That is, until I re-discovered how to schedule my day like I did in high school.
It’s called a block schedule, and it’s freaking genius! Block scheduling means you break you day up into different time sections, or blocks. Then, you assign different tasks and responsibilities to each block. When the time for that block is over, you move on to the next block, just like you did in school.
That’s a very important part to remember, move on. Much like when the bell rang in History class and the entire class walked out to go to Science class. When the morning block is over, you move on to the lunch block, and so on.

This type of schedule keeps you on track. And what happens when moms stay on track with their to-do lists? We’re productive. We get more done in less time. We maximize our productivity and totally kill our day!

Ugh, right? You’re already tired, you don’t want to sacrifice any more sleep. But, there is something magical about having time for yourself before the chaos of the day takes over. If this is new to you, start small by getting up 20 minutes before your kids.
Start small, stay consistent.
The absolute best productivity tips for moms struggling to keep up with everything is to start small and be as consistent as possible. Don’t underestimate the importance of small, consistent action.
Even if you spend an extra five minutes a day on a task that’s too big for one day, soon you’ll have it accomplished. So don’t be afraid to start small. Those small, daily habits add up to a huge picture of productivity and accomplishment.
Ask for help and teach your kids the value of teamwork.
Being productive as a mom is much easier if you are ruthless with your time. Delegate as many of your tasks as you can and take a good hard look at what you can delete from your agenda.
Get your kids involved, get your spouse involved, hire help if you’re able, make a trade with another mom in your area. Create a support system, mama. You can’t and shouldn’t do it all alone!
